Second Annual Twestival at Mars Cafe March 25

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

For the second consecutive year, Mars Cafe is proud to host Des Moines’ part of the international humanitarian fundraiser, Twestival.  Twestival™ (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good. The event, held in locations around the world, is organized in each town by local volunteers, and 100% of proceeds go directly to projects.

It was a lot of fun to do last year, and the money we collected went to a great project, providing 55 wells in communities in Uganda, Ethiopia and India without adequate clean water resources.

This year, the funds we raise will go to Concern Worldwide, an international humanitarian organization dedicated to reducing suffering and ending extreme poverty. They are very involved in the Haitian relief effort and the funds raised will go towards that work.

Featuring live music from Thankful Dirt & Shame Train. $3 requested donation at the door.

We’re going for the first foursquare SWARM badge in Iowa : Unlock your foursquare SWARM badge : we’ll need 50 people to check-in with foursquare during the event.

Follow @twestival on Twitter for additional updates.
